Hotel Madrid Torrevieja: Our Stay
We stayed at Hotel Madrid Torrevieja, a simple three-star hotel in a convenient part of the city. We were not looking for luxury – we wanted somewhere comfortable, reasonably priced and close enough to the centre and the sea to explore Torrevieja easily.
One of the main reasons the location worked well for us was that the sea was only a few hundred metres away. We could leave the hotel and reach the waterfront on foot in just a few minutes, while still being close to shops, cafés and other parts of the city.
The hotel itself is quite modest from the outside, but inside it felt clean and practical. For us, it worked well as a base because we spent most of the day exploring Torrevieja and the surrounding Costa Blanca rather than sitting in the hotel.
We also had a rental car during this part of our trip, which made it much easier to visit places outside the centre. I will come back to that later in the article.
Our Room at Hotel Madrid Torrevieja
Our room at Hotel Madrid Torrevieja was simple, but it had everything we needed for a short stay. The first impression was that it felt clean and bright, with a large bed, a small sitting area and enough space for our luggage.
The room was not luxurious, but for us that was not important. We were spending most of our time outside exploring Torrevieja, so what mattered more was having a comfortable bed, air conditioning and a practical place to come back to in the evening.
There was also a TV, a small fridge, bedside lighting and a chair by the window. We particularly liked having the window and small balcony area, because it brought plenty of daylight into the room.
Breakfast at Hotel Madrid Torrevieja
Breakfast was served downstairs from 8:00 to 11:00, which gave us plenty of time in the morning without having to rush.
For a three-star hotel, we thought the breakfast selection was quite good. There were cold meats, cheese, bread, croissants, pastries, yoghurt, butter and other small items, together with juice and coffee from the machine. It was not a huge resort-style buffet, but there was enough choice for a proper breakfast before going out for the day.
What we liked most was that everything was simple and relaxed. We could have breakfast, drink a coffee and then head straight out to explore Torrevieja.
Bathroom and Room Facilities
The bathroom was small, but it was practical and clean enough for a short stay. It had a walk-in shower, toilet, sink, mirror and towels, and there was also a wall-mounted hairdryer.
The shower area was quite simple, with no luxury finishes, but everything worked as expected. For a three-star hotel, we found it perfectly adequate.
The room also had a small fridge, which was useful for keeping drinks cold during the hot weather. There was Wi-Fi and a safe in the room as well.
Location and Getting Around
One of the things we liked most about Hotel Madrid Torrevieja was the location. The sea was only a few hundred metres away, so it was easy to walk towards the waterfront and still stay close to the city itself.
For us, the hotel worked well as a base because we had a rental car. We used it for getting around Torrevieja and for visiting other places along the Costa Blanca. We rented a Ford through Centauro and were happy with the car. Having our own transport made the trip much easier and gave us much more freedom.
If you are planning to explore beyond central Torrevieja, I think renting a car is worth considering.

What to Do and Where to Eat Nearby
Because Hotel Madrid Torrevieja is in the city, it was easy for us to combine the hotel stay with exploring Torrevieja itself. We spent time walking around the centre, along the coast and visiting different places nearby.
One place we particularly enjoyed was the WOK Buffet in Torrevieja. It was a very good option when we wanted a large choice of food without spending too much, and we liked it enough to write a separate review about it.
Another place worth visiting is Torrevieja’s Pink Lake – Laguna Rosa. It is completely different from the seafront and city centre, and it makes a good short trip if you have a car.

A Quieter Alternative in La Zenia
If you prefer somewhere quieter than central Torrevieja, La Zenia can be a very good alternative.
It is only around 10–15 minutes by car, but the atmosphere is different. There is less city noise, more greenery, easier access to several beaches and generally more of a relaxed coastal feeling.
We also have our own house in La Zenia, which can accommodate up to 10 guests. For families or groups of friends, this can be much more practical than booking several hotel rooms.
You do not have to book through Booking.com. If you are interested in staying there, you can contact us directly on WhatsApp and ask about availability.
If you want to stay in the middle of the city, Hotel Madrid is the better choice. If you prefer more peace, more beach time and more space, La Zenia may suit you better.

Would We Stay at Hotel Madrid Torrevieja Again?
Yes, we would consider staying at Hotel Madrid Torrevieja again.
It is not a luxury hotel, and that is important to say clearly. The rooms and bathroom are fairly simple, and some parts of the hotel feel a little dated. But for a short stay, we found it practical, clean and comfortable enough.
The location was one of the biggest advantages for us. The sea was only a few hundred metres away, breakfast was included in the morning routine, and having a rental car made it easy to explore more of Torrevieja and the Costa Blanca.
For travellers who mainly want a convenient base rather than a resort experience, Hotel Madrid makes sense. If you want more space, quieter surroundings and easier access to several beaches, then La Zenia is the stronger alternative.
Before travelling, we also recommend having proper travel insurance, especially if you are hiring a car or planning several day trips.
Practical Information for Hotel Madrid Torrevieja
A few practical details from our stay may be useful if you are considering Hotel Madrid Torrevieja.
Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 11:00, and check-out is until 12:00, which we found convenient. The hotel also offers luggage storage, Wi-Fi, in-room safes and a laundry service.
There is also an outdoor swimming pool, located by the parking area opposite the hotel. According to the hotel information, the pool is open until 21:00.
If you need transport to the airport, reception can also help arrange a taxi.
Smoking is not allowed inside the rooms, although it is permitted on the balcony.
For a three-star city hotel, these small practical extras make the stay easier, especially if you are using the hotel mainly as a base for exploring Torrevieja and the surrounding area.
